When should you open your swimming pool?

Pool openings are already underway here at CIPS!

Whether you have an inground pool or an above ground, it is about time to start thinking of opening up! We get asked a lot when would a good time to open is. A time frame to shoot for is after we are passed freezing temperatures. An excellent rule of thumb is if the grass starts to grow, you should be open or at least opening soon! If the grass can grow, warm temps can also breed algae underneath that cover!

Another factor will depend on when you are wanting to use your pool. If you have a party planned for an upcoming event, graduation, or holiday (maybe Memorial Day) you will want to have the pool opened, cleaned, and balanced well ahead of time. Depending on how the water looks after sitting all winter, it could take a couple weeks to get it up, going, and sparkling like it should!

Opening is just an indicator that Summer is on it’s way! Looking out at a clear blue pool is so refreshing knowing warmer weather is just around the corner!

If you have any questions feel free to give us a call or stop into the store! We hope you are as ready for this swimming season as we are!
